Larry Postel

writer Flip Turn, High Holiday, The Main Event
Born and raised in Dallas, Larry received his B.S. Degree in Advertising from the University of Texas in Austin in 1978.  He also took several film classes while at U.T., including one in TV writing that triggered Larry’s interest in scriptwriting. After college, Larry moved to New York to pursue a career in advertising (and screenwriting).  He met a fellow writer while working at the BBDO advertising agency.  They became collaborators and optioned their first screenplay to a major producer, and then wrote three scripts together on paid assignment, including one for HBO.  None of these scripts were produced.
Moving back to Dallas in 1985, Larry continued screenwriting, now on his own. He optioned and sold several more screenplays, yet still none were produced. Finally, in 2019 – at the age of 62 and six years in remission from Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma – Larry’s persistence paid off:  Three of his original spec screenplays were purchased, produced and are currently in post-production.
FLIP TURN, a drama about an autistic teen who becomes a high school swimming champion, was produced and directed by Dallas filmmaker, Alin Bijan.  It stars Sheree Wilson and Even Brinkman.  HIGH HOLIDAY, a comedy about a free-spirited coed who brings weed-infused salad dressing to her uptight family’s Christmas dinner, was directed by Brian Herzlinger. It stars Cloris Leachman, Tom Arnold, Jennifer Tilly, Shannyn Sossamon and Robert Carradine.  And THE MAIN EVENT, co-produced by Netflix and WWE Studios and directed by Jay Karas, stars Seth Carr, Adam Pally and Tichina Arnold.  The movie is a family comedy about a young boy who discovers a magic wrestling mask, then goes on to become a WWE Superstar.
Larry was also recently admitted to the WGA, perhaps the oldest first time member of the Guild!
