Glenn Gers was born and raised in New York City, and graduated from Yale University. His original screenplay NIGHTBIRDS won a Fellowship Grant in Screenwriting from the New York Foundation For The Arts. He has been a professional screen-and-television writer for 25 years, working with many studios and production companies. His writing credits include: FRACTURE, a courtroom thriller (screenplay by Dan Pyne and Glenn Gers, story by Dan Pyne) starring Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling, directed by Gregory Hoblit. MAD MONEY, a caper-comedy, directed by Callie Khouri, and starring Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie Holmes. OFF SEASON, an offbeat Christmas story, directed by Bruce Davison and starring Hume Cronyn, Sherilynn Fenn and Adam Arkin. A Showtime Original Movie, it was nominated for a Writer’s Guild Award, and won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing of a Children’s Special. INNER DEMONS, a low-budget horror movie, directed by Seth Grossman, released by IFC Midnight. PHANTOM PAIN, an Audible.com half-hour original audiobook spinoff from the series HOMELAND, read by Damien Lewis. Episodes of CYBILL, THE JEFF FOXWORTHY SHOW and BECKER, and 10 episodes plus 3 seasons on the staff of the Nickelodeon/TVLand comedy series INSTANT MOM. As a writer/director, his micro-budget independent feature, THE ACCOUNTANT, a magical-realist disaster movie, was an official selection of the Atlanta Film  Festival, and won the Discovery Award/Grand Prize at the Rhode Island International Film Festival. His second micro-budget indie feature, DISFIGURED -- about an unexpected friendship between two women: one  obese, the other anorexic -- was an official selection at six film festivals. It won the Grand Jury Prize at the deadCENTER Film Festival and a special award from the Women’s Film Critic’s Circle, and was nominated “Best Picture/Mental Health” by the PRISM Awards. It opened in New York in July 2008, and was released on DVD by Cinema Libre Studio. LIKE.SHARE.FOLLOW, a romantic thriller he wrote and directed, was produced by Blumhouse & Divide/Conquer and premiered on Cinemax in the fall of 2017. As a teacher, Gers has lectured or mentored at Full Sail University, Cinestory, The David Lynch MFA Program, and the AFI Directing Workshop for Women. His essay, "Go Ask Rosenkrantz" is included in Write Now! Screenwriting, published by Tarcher/Penguin.
